LES MISÉRABLES Signature Series Of Backdrops Now In Production; Available By April 30 for Rentals
Since we announced them in 2011, TheatreWorld’s customers have spoken highly of our LES MISÉRABLES backdrops. (As have several industry reporters!) The classic Victor Hugo novel, of course, inspired this beloved musical. The initial series will consist of four themed backdrops designed to support this musical theatre spectacular.
The sketches below are working renditions, not the final product. The actual, hand-painted Old World Tavern Interior and Old World Town Square are currently in production. They are scheduled for delivery by the end of April. Additionally, we created a very unique, barricade-themed backdrop to round out the collection. This drop will provide LES MISÉRABLES directors an easy and creative way to stage the pivotal barricade scenes. The drop is going through final pre-production modifications. It will be available for rentals by the end of May.
The LES MISÉRABLES backdrops are new creations, designed by TheatreWorld’s creative teams. As you can tell from the sketches, we designed these backdrops very realistically. (But still added some artistic flair!) Our artists are currently painting them carefully, with special attention to colorization and audience appeal. We have scheduled two additional LES MISÉRABLES backdrops for design in the fall. We can’t wait to receive more feedback from our panel of theatrical directors. Once we have had time to evaluate customer responses to the initial series of backdrops, we will begin work on the next set.
Initially, we will offer TheatreWorld’s LES MISÉRABLES themed backdrops in our 40′ by 18′ size only. Again, customer responses and requests will dictate when and if we will offer these drops in the 25′ by 15′ size.
Using LES MIS Signature Backdrops in Other Productions
Furthermore, TheatreWorld recommends several of our LES MISÉRABLES backdrops for other productions. For example, these new Signature Series backdrops are suitable for a number of musical theatre productions. (Including MAN OF LA MANCHA, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and more.) They are also great for plays, like ROBIN HOOD and THE THREE MUSKETEERS.
