TheatreWorld Backdrops November Highlights: Part 1
November was a very active and busy month here at TheatreWorld. It was, by far, our most intense month ever. Our backdrops supported theatrical presentations, dance extravaganzas, and corporate and private Events. Additionally, we supported many Holiday celebrations throughout the Country.
Hurricane Sandy Causes Major Challenges for TheatreWorld and East Coast Customers
Recently, Hurricane Sandy created some very interesting challenges for both TheatreWorld and our clients. It was astonishing that many of our customers managed to present their shows on time, in spite of Sandy. We shipped many of the backdrops early to compensate for transportation delays and ensure timely delivery. TheatreWorld values the relationships that we build with our customers. We were pleased to do everything possible to accommodate our impacted clients during this most challenging time. Several customers had to re-schedule shows because of facility issues. We have been able to work closely with them during this critical time-frame in order to successfully accommodate every customer’s schedule change. The last short-term impacted customers’ show packages shipped to New Jersey 12/04. (Several weeks later than originally scheduled because of their facility damage.)
We apologize to the directors and producers who tried to schedule TheatreWorld Backdrops late in the fall season that we were unable to accommodate as the effect of Sandy combined with the popularity of some of our backdrops limited the availability of select drops in our collection.
THE WIZARD OF OZ at Centenary Stage Company
Centenary Stage Company of Hackettstown, NJ selected two of TheatreWorld’s Signature Series backdrops (Haunted Forest and Emerald City Great Hall) to support their fall, full-featured presentation of the RSC adaptation of THE WIZARD OF OZ. The cast included a cast of 50+ combining Equity actors from the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area. Centenary also involved youth actors from associated groups. Audiences loved Centenary’s technically advanced, highly professional production. The reviews by local critics have all been excellent. The show was recommended by all as very uplifting and a wonderful family affair. Read the reviews here!
We look forward to working with Will and the entire Centenary team again in the future and recommend that anyone in the North Jersey area visit the Centenary website and take in one of their performances.
GUYS AND DOLLS at Snead State Community College
Additionally, Snead State Community College in Alabama produced a major production of the timeless and popular musical GUYS AND DOLLS during the fall season. According to all reports, the show was just amazing and totally entertaining. Next, the Snead team may even go to Regionals, based on their presentation. TheatreWorld would like to wish Johnny Brewer and the entire team at Snead the best of luck with the regional selection committee. We look forward to supporting you at Regionals.
Missouri City Ballet’s Production of SWAN LAKE
Finally, TheatreWorld was also delighted to support D’Ann Gimenez of Laurel Dance Academy and the Missouri City Ballet with their fall presentation of Swan Lake. D’Ann selected two TheatreWorld backdrops (Paris Opera House Grand Foyer and Mystic Moon). D’Ann, over the past year, has become like “one of the family”. We have had the pleasure of supporting her and her team with three of her major presentations. We look forward to working with her to develop the imagery package for her spring show.
We’ll be featuring several more of our customers’ fantastic November productions in our next blog coming very soon!
