2013’s Hottest Musicals Based On TheatreWorld Backdrops Winter/Spring Ordering Patterns

As we enter 2013, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Disney’s ALADDIN and THE WIZARD OF OZ are three of the most requested scenic backdrop show packages our clients request. These are followed closely by SEUSSICAL: THE MUSICAL, INTO THE WOODS, THE MUSIC MAN, ANNIE, LES MISERABLES, and GUYS AND DOLLS.

TheatreWorld Backdrops significantly updated and enhanced its collection of imagery for all these shows last year. Many of these drops are part of TheatreWorld ‘Signature Series’ backdrops.

New Beauty and the Beast Backdrops

Our BEAUTY AND THE BEAST collection is getting an additional 6 new backdrops in early 2013. We drew inspiration from the live stage tour and/or the Disney animated movie versions. The second release is the “Be Our Guest” Celebration Curtain. (Shown below.)

We shared our pre-release sketches with many of you and already have quite a few orders for this unique backdrop! We appreciate your confidence and trust. New Backdrops Great for HAIRSPRAY – and More!

During the past few months, we have also been discussing TheatreWorld’s new scenic backdrop designs for HAIRSPRAY, GREASE, FOOTLOOSE, and other Americana-themed shows and events with you in detail. To date, we have only released one draft sketch: our Baltimore City Square. Two of the backdrops designed to support HAIRSPRAY will be released to rentable inventory over the next few weeks. Baltimore City Square features Mr. Pinky’s and a few hot cars. Our Stylized Baltimore Street prominently features the Har-De-Har comedy shop. Both will be very colorful, upbeat, and will “shout” 1960’s. These spectacular backdrops blend both the live stage and hit movie presentations.

The third HAIRSPRAY backdrop, releasing in February, is the Vintage 1960’s Entertainment Drape. We designed this drop for the inside the TV station for the Corny Collins Show. This stunning backdrop will also support DREAMGIRLS, BYE, BYE BIRDIE, etc., and any concert, event. This drop would also work for any show presenting musical themes from the 50’s through the 70’s. This wonderful drop is a unique blend of the set components from the HAIRSPRAY touring UK production and vintage Wurlitzer Jukeboxes of the era.

High Schools, Mansions, and Diners

Additionally, TheatreWorld Backdrops’ new Signature Series High School Exterior, High School Hallway, New York Mansion Exterior, and our 50’s through 70’s Classie Chassies Diner series will follow very shortly. The diner series will be very era realistic, colorful, and will feature some of the most fondly remembered muscle cars of the time. These magnificent scenic backdrops will support musicals, concerts, and events with themes from 50’s Doo Wop to 70’s Disco.

The draft sketch below is one of what will be three unique diner exteriors. The car selection will vary from drop to drop, dating the scene as 50’s, 60’s, or 70’s. The Classie Chassies series will be very colorful and upbeat. These drops are currently in production. Customer shipments begin in March.
