THE LITTLE MERMAID Backdrops Now Releasing!
TheatreWorld is pleased to announce our totally revised Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID backdrop collection! The revitalized collection is available for rentals starting in June.
Our THE LITTLE MERMAID collection began mainly from sketches by multiple members of our international design teams. We’ve designed our collection to support all levels of theatre. We’re also redesigning several of our most popular underwater backdrops to meet a higher artistic and design level.
Little Mermaid Backdrops – Under the Sea
Coral Kingdom Scenic Backdrop
Coral Kingdom is a highly colorful, light-hearted look at undersea life in a beautiful setting. It supports THE LITTLE MERMAID and any other under the sea productions and events.
Deep Sea Wreckage Scenic Backdrop
Galleon Graveyard Scenic Backdrop
Deep Sea Wreckage and Galleon Graveyard are beautiful artistic masterpieces. They provide the audience with looks at undersea wrecks from two different eras. Both will add beauty and production value to any undersea scene or themed event.
Ursula’s Lair Scenic Backdrop Concept Sketch
Ursula’s Lair was influenced by the popular movie version of THE LITTLE MERMAID. It presents Ursula’s world dark and foreboding. The image above is the final draft sketch. The backdrop is currently up on the production frame and our most senior artists are hand-painting it. We will release the final photo on both Facebook and our website’s Latest Backdrop page shortly.
Ariel’s Grotto Scenic Backdrop Concept Sketch
Additionally, Ariel’s Grotto is up on the production frame. This backdrop will also be released soon. In contrast, Ariel’s Grotto is a much warmer, happier and safer place to visit. Swim on by if you happen to be in a diving and in a human trinket-collecting mood! Audiences of all ages will love both drops.

Castle On The Beach Scenic Backdrop Concept Sketch
Finally, the key component to our LITTLE MERMAID series is our Castle on the Beach backdrop. We encouraged our artists to blend reality and fantasy with a big scoop of Disney’s vivid color palate. This marvelous backdrop, set in a beautiful tropical cove by the sea, features a beautiful castle. It perfectly blends an old European castle and modern fantasy. An enchanted path leads from the beach to the castle door with a view of the town below. Our production teams will soon finish hand-painting this Signature Series Backdrop. It’s ready for release next week.
TheatreWorld’s THE LITTLE MERMAID series has been produce all at the same to insure there is color coordination and blending across the drops so they work seamlessly together in the more visual complex presentations of Mermaid. Most of the sea creatures depicted in the backdrops are on the friendly and colorful side for younger audiences, but several of Ursula’s friends are not quite so friendly in the real world.
Several of our very popular under the sea backdrops are also receiving enhancements to support THE LITTLE MERMAID and insure they work seamlessly with all the new designs.
