New Americana Backdrops!
Recently, customers have been asking lots of questions about the “in process” major enhancements to TheatreWorld’s Americana series. We have moved approximately 20 new designs into production. We expect to debut these backdrops to customers in the winter and early spring.
HAIRSPRAY Series
HAIRSPRAY is one of today’s most popular Broadway musicals. Additions to TheatreWorld’s HAIRSPRAY series will include three Signature Series Backdrops. These new drops are designed to present this show in a period correct, high energy way.
The first drop builds on our American Town Square backdrop concept, released successfully during the summer months. Clients have been very complimentary on the flow, detail, and colorization of this beautiful backdrop. We plan to take the bank “down a notch” architecturally. It will now become a very attractive television station. Additionally, one of the corner stores will become a Maryland Seafood restaurant and the other will become a “Big Girls Dress Shop”. Additional significant changes will dramatically enhance the backdrop and make it scream the 1960’s.
Backdrop two in the HAIRSPRAY series will be a residential block of stylized Baltimore-era housing. (Very colorful and light-hearted–almost dancing.) And yes, there will be a traditional corner store.
Finally, backdrop three is a custom creation portraying the set of a 1960-era television broadcast. (American Bandstand in Philly revisited, but with a bit more POP.) These wildly colored, 60’s era backdrops are work for any 1960 musical and concert production, not just HAIRSPRAY.
Classie Chassies Diner and High School Series
Our new Classie Chassies 50’s and 60’s diner series consists of three backdrops that are all very colorful, detailed, dramatic, and period realistic. They will shout “fast cars, comfort food, and Rock n’ Roll!!” (The only thing you need to provide will be lights, good music, and hot chicks; then your stage will be rocking!)
The new high school series spans three additional Signature Series custom backdrops. It includes a beautiful, historical high school-inspired exterior, a gymnasium ready for a party/dance, and a high school hallway that is quite unique.
We designed these backdrops to all work together to support any 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s themed event. Additionally, they portray American pop culture in a highly detailed manner.
Our Director’s Round Table will be recommending that our customers consider these new backdrops for productions of BYE, BYE BIRDIE, FAME, FOOTLOOSE, GODSPELL, GREASE, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, WEST SIDE STORY, and era-themed parties, events, concerts, and more.
