The Last Five Years usually uses a simple set, given the fact that it shifts from place to place and year to year so quickly. Even if you're planning to use a single backdrop, TheatreWorld has many great options for you! To set the show mostly in Jamie and Cathy's apartment, choose BROOKLYN LOFT. Another perfect choice is CENTRAL PARK, to reflect the one moment in the show where both characters' timelines match up. Or, for something more abstract, opt for THE CLOCK, both to reflect the simultaneous forwards and backwards motion of the story and to mirror the story of Schmuel. If you're planning to switch out drops throughout the show, add MANSION LIBRARY for Jamie's book signing, THEATRE BACKSTAGE for Cathy's audition, and BROWNSTONE ROW HOMES for "Goodbye Until Tomorrow", "Movin' Too Fast", or any other scene that you'd like to set outdoors.
